Tuxedo Cake

A decadent and visually striking dessert that combines chocolate and vanilla flavors in a delightful way.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water until well combined (the batter will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Cool for 10 minutes in pans before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. In a separate bowl, whip mascarpone and heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  8. Once the cakes are cool, spread a layer of mascarpone frosting between the layers and on top of the cake.
  9. Decorate as desired and serve.

Notes

  • For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
  • This cake can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
