- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 4 cups chocolate frosting
- 1 cup white frosting
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Carefully stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the top of one cake layer with chocolate frosting and place the second layer on top.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with remaining chocolate frosting.
- Pipe white frosting decoratively on top for a tuxedo look.
