  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Transfer the batter to a greased baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the brown sugar and remaining sugar mixture on top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes
