Blueberry Buttermilk Biscuits

Deliciously fluffy blueberry buttermilk biscuits perfect for breakfast or brunch.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in the blueberries gently.
  5. Add the buttermilk and mix until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times.
  7. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick round, then cut out biscuits with a round cutter.
  8. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add lemon zest to the dough.
  • Use frozen blueberries if fresh ones are not available.
