  • 4 pounds beef short ribs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Brown the beef short ribs on all sides, then remove them from the pot.
  4. Add the onions and garlic, sautéing until they are soft.
  5. Stir in the beef broth, red wine, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  6. Return the short ribs to the pot and cover it tightly.
  7. Bake in the oven for 3 to 4 hours, or until the meat is tender.
